FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)

Q: Is there a minimum order?
A: The minimum order for most items is 1 but this may mean you are ordering 1 pack of 25, 1 pack of 15 or 1 pack of 10. Please check the "Product Description" for more detailed information.

Q: Can I purchase samples before I buy?
A: We currently do not offer samples or color swatches for our products except for the Mackinac Island Invitations. As we diversify our products we may offer samples or color swatches in the future. If you are unsure if a product is the correct color that you need, we suggest ordering a small quantity.

Q: The color of the item I received looks different from the color on my computer?
A: We have made every effort to display as accurately as possible the colors of our products. However, as the actual colors you will see depend on your monitor, we cannot guarantee that your monitor will display the accurate color. To aid in your color selection, we have provided Pantone color guide numbers (PMS) which are nearest to the color choices listed on the "Color Chart." However, the actual colors may vary and we do not guarantee the color match. We suggest ordering a small quantity to see the actual color.

Q: If an item is out of stock when will it be available again?
A: Some of our featured items are available only in limited quantities (One-of-a-Kind and Yard Sale!). This means once an item is gone, it may be gone for good. We make every attempt to remove that item from the website in a timely manner. Our Create-Your-Own Collection should be restocked in a timely manner. If you have any questions concerning the restocking date of an item, please contact us.

Q: What payment methods do you accept?
A: We accept the methods that paypal.com offers which includes major credit cards: Visa, Mastercard, Discover and American Express. Please visit paypal.com for more PayPal information.

Q: Do I have to open or use a PayPal account to check out?
A: No. PayPal will only save your information if you request it. If you have a PayPal account but do not want to use it to complete your transaction, click on "continue without logging on" during checkout.

Q: How do you ship merchandise?
A: We ship our orders via UPS.

Q: Do you ship outside the United States?
A: No, not at this time.

Q: What is your shipping policy?
A: Once an order is dispatched to our shipping service, Autumn Writings and its owners accept no responsibility for the delivery of the shipment to you or for any loss or damage to the order.

Q: How will I know my order was processed successfully?
A: You will receive email as your order progresses from the time of purchase to the time of delivery.

Q: How can I check the status of my order?
A: You will receive an email informing you of your order's status including delays in the process. If you have questions regarding your order, please contact us. If you have the UPS tracking number, please visit ups.com.

Q: How soon will I receive my order?
A: Your order will take 3-4 business days to process before it is shipped and the delivery time will depend on which shipping method you chose. For example, if you chose overnight shipping, your order may take 4-5 business days to arrive. If you need expedited processing, please contact us prior to placing your order to see if the item is available for immediate shipping. (Exception: Mackinac Island Collection--see more detailed information below)

Q: What about returns?
A: All sales are final.

Q: What if I receive a damaged item?
A: Please contact our office within 24 hours of receiving your order.

Q: Can I get a volume discount?
A: We are not offering any at this time.

Q: Why do you offer a Mackinac Island Collection?
A: Our owners and designers, Doris and Jeff Driver, were married on Mackinac Island in 2002. The Mackinac Island Collection was created from many of the stationery pieces they designed for their own wedding.

The following questions and answers pertain ONLY to the Mackinac Island Collection:

Q: Will I receive a proof of my order prior to it being printed?
A: A PDF proof of your invitation will be sent via email within 5 business days of receiving your order. Please follow the approval instructions that will accompany the proof. Orders will not be sent into production until the proof approval is received in our office. Any delay in receiving the approval will delay the order process.

Q: How long will my Mackinac Island Collection order take?
A: Invitations take 4-6 weeks and menus take 2-3 weeks from the time we receive your proof approval until the order is shipped. Other stationery items take 1 week to process before shipment.

Q: What type of printing do you offer?
A: All items are flat printed. If you would like to order thermography (raised) or letter press printing, please contact us prior to placing your order. (Note: Vellum invitations and all photographs can only be flat printed.) Thermography and letter press printing require a minimum order of 4 packs (100 items) and additional printing charges will apply.

Q: How long will thermography and letter press printing take?
A: These are considered Special Orders and the order process takes an additional 2-4 weeks from approval to shipment.

Q: Can we see a sample before ordering?
A: Yes, you are able to purchase samples. Due to the hand-crafted nature of our invitations, we do charge for samples. Samples are generic and unable to be customized. Click on "Mackinac Island Invitation Samples" under "Mackinac Island Invitations" to order one.

Q: How did you get started?
A: Autumn Writings is a small company owned and operated by our designer, Doris Driver, and her husband, Jeff, our resident artist. The company started with humble beginnings in 2000.

Our story began when Doris worked in an office shared by a social event planner who desperately needed hand calligraphers. Doris enrolled in a calligraphy course and began hand addressing envelopes. She soon expanded to digital calligraphy--computerized envelope addressing--and began working with additional social event planners.

One day her office received an invitation book with handmade invitations. An officemate suggested that Doris could easily create similar designs. One week later we had our first client and our first design was an 18th Birthday Party Invitation.

Since then, Autumn Writings has expanded to creating custom stationery for weddings, Bar/Bat Mitzvahs, birthdays, corporate events, promotional mailings, business stationery and much more. We are known for our innovative designs, quality of workmanship and prompt service.

During the years we have received numerous requests to expand our business online. As we thought about our website, we wanted to encourage others that they can create great invitations at home.
